What we need is a common design for our infrastructure.
I support the Westinghouse AP1000 design. Create a common power plant design with all of them being built exactly the same, and each with 2 AP1000 reactors. That would be 2000 MW per power plant. As each plant was finished, one old nuclear plant or coal fired plant would be closed down.
Seeing how most power plants today produce quite a bit less power than 2000 MW today, it would still be a net power gain while removing the pollution of coal plants and potential danger of older designed nuclear power plants.
