Re: Rant

There are almost five million corporations in the U.S., the vast majority of which are run honestly and with the best interests of the customer in mind. The fact that Enron had crooks on board doesn't change the fact that, despite what socialists will tell you, corruption is the exception rather than the rule. Corporations that do the right thing generally don't make the news.

I don't know who you worked for in your twenties, but it sounds like a bad experience. I have been fortunate enough, or ambitious enough, to be a part owner of most of the outfits I have worked for, so have been able to largely avoid the tie-and-cubicle scene.

There is a large contingent of people who will attempt to paint the Enron incident as a condemnation of capitalism and wealth in general. They hope that this will help get their guys in office and their socialist policies enacted.

They're wrong about capitalism. Put it this way, if corruption was such a successful tactic, then why isn't Enron swimming in money instead of going bankrupt, and their leadership sitting fat and happy instead of fleeing subpoenas? The fact that Enron is being universally condemned proves my point.

Don't let the newspapers tell you what to think. The current Enron flap has a political agenda behind it.
