I worked for the same company for 20 years before getting nailed in a downsize. I was seriously traumatized for a while but wound up getting a better job in 6 months. That one only lasted a year but by then I knew the ropes of job searching and wound up with 2 more jobs in the next 10 years. Each was better than the last.
I learned more and made more money in the last 11 years I worked in corp than I did in the first 20.
Water seeks it's own level, you can't keep a good man down, etc., etc.
BTW, it may be different in your field but I never got a job from a resume. I sent out hundreds in my first search and seldom got a response. Networking is the way.
