Re: Yep.

Some offshoot of primates may survive. Birds survived the extinction of the dinosaurs. However, a sweeping guestimate about the survivability of a species isn't really a good bet. And transferring that survivabililty onto one's self is delusional. We will all die. The only question is how much we will suffer as we live. Before I die will I be hungry, homeless, have my arm broken by machines at work, or worse? Will anyone help?

Cowardice and lack of generosity are the immediate failings of our species. You will see one unemployed man shrinking away from the pleas of a single mom for financial help. He knows the urgency of her plight from his own first-hand experience, and wants to help, but cannot. The manager who earns $65,000/a won't give him a job. Upon landing a job, the man re-defines what "living comfortably" means to him and immediately forgets about the problems of others. After all, he can help himself, why can't everyone else.
