G'day, ya arragant swine...

Thanks for your inquiry -

The Space Research Institute profited quite handsomely on Dr. Usikov's work on robotic vision systems, and it is finding application in Japan and Europe.

The US robotic industry is falling behind because the US did not also license, and NASA is delivering far less return on its $500,000,000 or so Mars rover expenditures than they would have if NASA had also licensed this technology.

NASA's failure to license has also resulted in rovers with too short a range to provide the kind of answers to the back contamination question which are needed before manned flight to Mars can be realistically considered.

Still, the amount required of the US for its part in the NEO search is far larger than the amount of revenue which could be generated here. The US needs to spend at least $270,000,000 just to deal with the continent killers, some $100,000,000 for the existing telescopes and another $170,000,000 for construction of the LSST.
