My worldview differs from yours.
What "Mars enthusiasts" seem to be incapable of understanding is exactly how serious a threat the impact hazard presents to mankind.
This is an indicator of obsessive behaviour: this obsession is also reflected in the unreal image of Mars that they hold in their minds.
Fortunately, as more real data is returned from Mars most people are capable of forming a more realistic idea of Mars as it actually is.
Another sure indicator of obsessive behaviour by the Mars enthusiasts is the rather cavalier way in which they view lives lost in impact, and impact has already killed people in large numbers.
The manned exploration of Mars, with possible establishment of a research faciility there, is going to be an incredibly difficult task. It makes no sense to construct one small "lifeboat" on Mars when for a far lesser effort the seawothiness of the entire ship Earth and all of its passengers may be ensured.
To persistently insist otherwise is reflective of obsessive behaviour.
