My opinion is that you cannot indict all of academia because of the comments of one person employed as an instructor at one obscure university any more than you can indict all of humanity because of the actions of one human.
Where is one to go for an education if the lovely halls of academia and all their many denizens are not up to one's standards? And whose judgements are we to accept if educational reforms are required?
There may be systemic problems in our academic system, but I doubt much worthwhile reform will be accomplished based on subjective judgements about curriculum.
Do our kids need to take more math and science?
Yes!
Do our kids need better reading skills?
Yes!
Do our kids need to study more foreign languages?
Yes!
But do we need to be worried about the screwy teachings or one or more odd-ball professors?
No!
