I'm afraid you are right about the starving masses not being able to marshall resistance.

The irony of this is that even if there were no boycott, the trade wealth flowing into Iraq would still go straight to the top, and the starving people would not benefit. The only result would be even more wealth in Saddam's pockets.

The boycott is a bogus issue. It would make no real difference one way or the other to the people who are starving.
