You're missing a point
At the time Saddam came into power, Iraq DID have a relatively large and prosperous middle class, who did absolutely nothing to insist that Iraq have more responsible leadership. Still today there are many in the military who are comfortable and have the means to take action against Saddam, but they don't.
I'm sorry Mary Anne, but after Sep. 11 I have a hell of a lot less sympathy and understanding for nations sponsoring terrorism, and who can't get their act together and do something about their leadership because they're principally popluated by a bunch of ignorant savages. Sorry if that offends, but it's the harsh truth.
