Raoul raises the point that our policy of blockading Iraq has been ineffective and also harms its citizens. I think that this is a legitimate criticism. Certainly, it has NOT produced the intended results and it has had the unintended bad consequences of increasing Iraqi citizen misery.
I would hope that a complete re-assessment of our foreign policy would be undertaken in light of recent events to ensure that we do things that are effective and that the law of unintended consequences is allowed for.
