Okay, let me clarify:
The leader in Iraq is a nutcase dictator, with a proven record of abuse and murder of his citizens, a proven record of considering himself as the chosen leader of the Arab world, a proven record of actually invading neighboring nations for conquest, and a proven record of attempting the development of nuclear technology for the express purpose of getting nuclear warheads for his own purposes. These are facts, not opinions. Of all the nations on Earth right now, only Iran fits all these criteria, although North Korea comes close.
Okay?
Regardless of who was President, or what he said, I can independently reason out that Saddam has to be taken out for the safety of the region and the rest of the world. I don't know what additional evidence other people need, especially when we attacked a considerably less dangerous foe in Eastern Europe during the Clinton Administration on considerably flimsier evidence.
My complaint about Bush is not that he is lying about Iraq needing to be taken out, or the reasons for it, but that he is cooperating in the various political charades and hoops that the U.N. and his political opponents are setting up for him. I am disappointed that he is pretending that this inspection farce is anything other than a farce.
And if it's not a binary choice between military action or letting Saddam loose until his power increases, I'd still like to hear any reasonable alternatives. Sanctions, maybe?
