<Depends on what they are saying. If they are saying, "believe as we do, do as we do, and obey us, or die to the last man, woman, and child," I don't see a lot of basis for conversation.
I certainly hope that the Muslims do not think that the westerners are saying that to them. If they do, then war can not be avoided because both sides fear each other.
It is possible for people to be evil.
I am sure it is. But the question is; what is their motive, what do they hope to gain by being destructive, what is it that they want, why are they not honest with themselves or others. If we understood these things about them, we would be much further in preventing 'evil' from spreading its influence.
