Current Events » in reply to If we use genocide to defeat our enemies...

Great points.

I think we all feel frustrated by the pace of the "War on Terror".

Because where does it end? Does anyone, even in the Bush Administration really know? Or will the war just continue to escalate as our enemies set the time and place of each major battle?

I have faith in our leaders to do the right thing (for the most part). I believe that I would feel the same even if a Democrat was in the White House. Mistakes will be made along the way, but we will move forward in an honorable way.

I have faith that it won't turn into a genocidal US vs. THEM confrontation. Some individuals and groups on both sides will try to turn it into that... As there are extreemists on both sides of every conflict. Fortunatly, we have a system of government, and a National ethic that seems to keep the extremists where they belong: At the fringes of society where they cannot project their genocidal tendancies on the rest of society. I think Lee's frustration is that he doesn't see that on the other side. Of course there are some on the otherside that are reasonable. Unfortunatly, a leader like Sadam Hussain has a way of supressing their moderating tendenceies...But given time and a little breathing room, moderates on the other side will emerge and hopefully even Lee will see that peace can be achieved somewhere short of "Killing 'em all".

Keep Hoping for the best. We will do what is right.

Scott
