Your comments are with regard to why a politician would propose such a plan. I stated there is a problem with letting politicians dictate technical developmental paths. There is no contradiction simply because I failed to elaborate on why such a plan would be proposed by a politician.

What you don't get is that despite being aware of these realities I prefer to fight that tendency based on the positive accomplishments of NASA rather than give up and pass the effort to a group with a 100% record of failure.
