Why war?
In human history there will always be folks he have no qualms killing others. As such, there will always be wars or violence of some sort - even in the distant future, in the most idealized and educated of times.
Because humanity is not equal in intelligence or temperament there will always be conflicts without peaceful resolution. The aggressor will either meet resistance or will slaughter.
If the US lays down before the fundamentalist terrorists - the future of earth is bleak indeed.
While wars and killing are largely awful - I know that they also must have beneficial and constructive purposes as well - in equal proportions. While this may seem to be a copout at first glance it is not. History has been shaped by wars sometimes for better or worse. A Nazi world or an Asia ruled by Imperial Japan would have been a global disaster.
In these pivotal times one must realize that war and conflict is sometimes necessary, and if pursued unemotionally without bloodlust or in anger, can result in constructive and beneficial changes for humanity and the trillions of humanity who will follow us.
