Red herring. Not the real issue.
As Tony points out, simply dumping a book in a toilet and running water over it would be enough to do the damage, whether it actually went down the pipe or not, and most people would describe this process as "flushing a book down the toilet."
Nitpicking on whether a book can actually be flushed all the way down isn't relevant.
