Can barely walk in here. Full of BS and straw. Its like being back on the farm.
"it comes down piss-pour reporting that had hurt the Afghanistan/American relationship and caused unnecessary bloodshed. "
The problem is, REB, is that they (Newsweek) followed journalistic practices both in the lead up to the publication AND in the retraction. They got burned by a source and so they issued a retraction- again, thats up to par with good standards and practices of journalism. If you think Newsweek ios lying about the behavior of the source or their vetting process, then pony up a reason to believe you over them, or shut up. If you think Newsweek should have done MORE in their vetting process, or that their vetting process was substandard to journalistic practices- then again pony up or shut up. The burden of the argument is on you.
Now what I am NOT going to tolerate are folks making claims that are inconsistent with the facts of this case... Claims like, for example: "Some one pushed this story knowing it was false, probably to support their anti-war stance."
Thats the bullshit, REB, that you have latched onto and want to push.
On to the strawman:
"But instead, you defend their mistake. "
I am not defending their 'mistakes'. I am pointing out that you are spewing bullshit, and the right wing media outlets are spewing bullshit, and the gov't is spewing bullshit. You are so desperate for this to be an artifact of a vast agenda that you are burying the facts alive without a second glance.
Newsweek may be at fault, but this is NOT a case of fabrication, and this is NOT YET DEMONSTRABLE as a case of shoddy journalism.
I urge you to keep your facts straight if you want to piss and moan about others keeping their facts straight.
As an American, I think Truth and Justice are pretty important. What about you? (hey, you do it, *I* can do it too)

More bullpuckey, with a strawman argument thrown in to boot- AND a challenge to my patriotism

- Facts: Like Newsweek saying US troops burned the Koren (Qur'an) when they did not, which results in Afgan violence.
- LOL Now book burning is up there with death, torture and rape?
- Wow, REB. Get the facts straight- it was about flushing the Koran/Qua'ran/Qur'an in a john (plus, I love the Irony)
