"The cause of the riots have been specifically assigned to this article by many different news sources, including the group that set the riots off. More here."
Yes, you are correct on that point. However, you certainly can't argue that our actions elsewhere have helped. In fact they are really hurting the 'America as good-guy' idea we want to project to the middle east. you have to accept the truth of that if I have to agree that the attributred cause of the riots was the flushing of the koran.
""The riots had nothing to do with this article" is lamer than a legless millipede, and it isn't going to work. Still, it's amazing how many people out there have tried to sell this one."
Thats not what I said. I expect that kind of shit from REB, not from you. I never said that they have 'nothing to do' with this article, just that there is a WHOLE LOT of context to this article.
"No wait. There may be something lamer: In other words, "nobody actually told us outright that it was untrue, so it must have been true." Is this how evidence is going to be gathered now?"
Oh, come on. Thats not whats being said by anyone here. You don't have to be a reporter to know what it means to pass someone a report for confirmation and comment before publication. If their secondfary and tertiary sources did not deny the report, it builds the credibility of the report.
"BTW, I'm sick to death of anonymous sources."
Well, I would be inclined to agree, but how would any news get out of gov't without them? A lot ofg wool can be pulled over a lot of eyes withy the benefit of darkness.

- Facts: Like Newsweek saying US troops burned the Koren (Qur'an) when they did not, which results in Afgan violence.
- LOL Now book burning is up there with death, torture and rape?
- Wow, REB. Get the facts straight- it was about flushing the Koran/Qua'ran/Qur'an in a john (plus, I love the Irony)
- Yes, Newsweek falsely claimed American troops had flushed the Koran down the toilet. I was thinking burned. You got me there you.
- correction
- Whatever. They caused violence in Afghanistan based on untruiths.
