Here.
This cartoon seems appropriate.
However, in a way, the focus is off with this scandal.
If some Baathists/Islamists in Iraq had kidnapped some American Christians and allegedly flushed a Bible down the toilet to "torture" them, would fundamentalist Christians in America erupt in murderous violence in the streets? Did radicalised Christians start rioting and lynching artists at random when this went on the display, for example?
I'm not the first to say this, of course.
The rioters are responsible for their actions, not Newsweek or US soldiers.....unless we want to hold them to different standards of conduct. I don't see this as at all justifiable, not if all religions are created equally or Islam is the religion of peace. I see fundamentalist Islam (more widespread than fundamentalist Christianity) as the problem here. I personally view it as an affront to modernity and humanity - freedom, equality and tolerance should not just be considered "Western" or "American" values. This brand of Islam tends to be less criticised than Christianity, despite the fact it is inarguably more of a driving force behind violence and terrorism in the world.

- Keep your outrage consistent with the facts, at least...
- Then they should expose the source.
- Facts: Like Newsweek saying US troops burned the Koren (Qur'an) when they did not, which results in Afgan violence.
- LOL Now book burning is up there with death, torture and rape?
- Wow, REB. Get the facts straight- it was about flushing the Koran/Qua'ran/Qur'an in a john (plus, I love the Irony)
- Yes, Newsweek falsely claimed American troops had flushed the Koran down the toilet. I was thinking burned. You got me there you.
- correction
- Whatever. They caused violence in Afghanistan based on untruiths.

- As someone else once said
