I thought it was your premise that sanctions against Iraq were not working to put pressure on Sadaam. Why would Iran be diferent?
I didn't say it would work, but at least it could be tried, if only to prove that point to liberals who believe that strongly-worded disapproval of the U.N. is the answer to every tyrant. After years, it was blatantly evident that it wasn't working in Iraq. But they tried it. Even now, a lot of liberals think we should have stayed that course, working or not.
Maybe the realists at state will prevail in back to basics good old fashioned diplomacy.
I expect that this is the course that will be taken in the near term.
...Do we have the right to do it? That's another question, and one that I fully expect a boilerplate response to........
Good question. I've got a few questions, too.
How do you feel about the idea of invading Afghanistan before 9/11? Been seeing a lot of discussion of that in the news. Do you think a nation whose leaders have publicly discussed unprovoked atomic attacks on Israel should have nuclear weapons?
Should an Islamist nation that DOES have a provable WMD program justify a preemptive strike?
