What threat did Afghanistan itself pose to us pre-9/11?
I've had a long thread with Mark on this kinda thing before and we both stayed in our aforeseen conclusions.
Myself, I pont to the fallout clinton got for just lobbing a few missiles. Congress would NEVER have approved a war with Afghanistan (or Iraq for that matter) pre 9/11 (no matter who the Pres was).
I don't think Iran should have nuclear weapons. I don't think India, Pakistan or North Korea should either. Do I have solutions for any of these? Nope.
The last is somewhat strawmanish.
I see the bar has been irrevocably lowered to WMD programs (at least not WMD program related activities, so maybe it's rising).
Are they considered a threat because they are Islamist, or because they have WMD?
