Are they considered a threat because they are Islamist, or because they have WMD?
I think the key here is "all of the above." Islamist nations without weapons of mass destruction aren't as much of a threat, although the potential is always there. Civilized nations with nuclear weapons aren't a problem, either.
North Korea is not Islamist, but the combination of insane leader and atomic bombs is equally dangerous. I'm not worried about India. Pakistan could be a problem when the leadership changes.
