hey - go easy on the throwback [Originally Posted to Off-Topic by Daniel on 9/4/2005 8:17:48 AM]

.. I use this term purely in a social and communal context, not racial. It can be argued that societies need a min imum level of cohesion to function, hence those who are kind, co-operative and humane should win out in the 'socially-cohesive Darwinist stakes'. Societies which breed racism and xenophobia will never last - look at the so-called "3rd Reich", or for that matter Mao Tse-Tung's China. Now OTOH, look at the ancient world for contrast, where Phonecia and other vibrant ports and places, were meeting and trading points for humans from vastly different societies. Even the Israelites were a group based on ideology and religion - NOT race (anyone of any race could 'join' providing they accepted the religion in toto). People seemed to be aware of other's identities and races, without being hung up on it.

It's true our modern global village is a completely new game and I would listen to careful and compassionate arguments in favor of restrictive immigration .. if it is truly necessary .. and I support the abolition and deportation of radical Islamist groups & individuals. Having said that I should return to the subject at hand, who is literally an Enoch Powell 'rivers of blood' throwback - and thus, according to how I view the rules of historical and social selection, represents a type of individual who may need to be 'bred out', for humanity to make any progress to stable and cohesive societies.

Oh yes and Lee - I do know that racism exists worldwide, among every single race and society existing, probably. So, all that means is that the above arguments apply equally to them, too.
