"quintessential embodiment"
(I'm sure I posted a reply late last night, but there's no sign of it. Very strange...)
The way you keep obsessively quoting my words tells me that they must really have hit the mark:
You're the quintessential embodiment of a RightWinger, Techie. Thoroughly disgusting and lacking any redeeming human virtues.
Sounds like a Klansman? Oh puhlease! That's a pretty hateful way to try and twist my words into a message of hate. Especially when, in context, my observation is in the middle of one of your more remarkably bigoted and hate-filled threads: Personal Responsibility
But to correct your spin, let's examine my words carefully. First, you need to add a handful of words to your vocabulary, because they're obviously lacking:
quin·tes·sence
Function: noun
1 : the fifth and highest element in ancient and medieval philosophy that permeates all nature and is the substance composing the celestial bodies
2 : the essence of a thing in its purest and most concentrated form
3 : the most typical example or representative
- quin·tes·sen·tial
em·bodi·ment
Function: noun
1 : one that embodies something <the embodiment of all our hopes>
2 : the act of embodying : the state of being embodied
which is to say
em·body
Function: transitive verb
1 : to give a body to (a spirit) : INCARNATE
2 a : to deprive of spirituality b : to make concrete and perceptible
3 : to cause to become a body or part of a body : INCORPORATE
4 : to represent in human or animal form : PERSONIFY
(All definitions from Merriam-Webster Online)
Get it? To direct my ire at a "quintessential embodiment" is to express my revulsion at the philosophy of degrading, demeaning, diminishing, and dehumanizing a group of people. A philosophy that's been quite clear of the years that it believes that the poor deserve whatever awful fate befalls them as the deserved consequence of the sin of being poor in America.
I disagree with you, SDAI-Tech1, that this disaster is a convenient excuse to purge the welfare roles. Those people do not deserve to die wretched deaths for the sin of being poor.
I stand by those words. It's your quintessential embodiment of that vicious belief to which I object so strongly.
You know I don't hate you, SDAI-Tech1. I hate the philosophy you personify.
