Well said, Eri

While at the University of Calgary (a great time of my life) I was honored by the friendship of many Muslims, and to a person they were all gentle, intelligent, caring souls. I mean, these people *humbled* me deeply. Their spiritual leader on campus was the most wonderful man, who spoke of Christianity and Jesus with profound respect.

Sadly though, people are still animals despite our reason and our spirituality and our ethics, and sometimes animals can go a little mad. By which name they call God is irrelevant. Who hasn't seen film of SS officers celebrating Christmas with their families. The pictures are almost charming, if you can get past the Death's Head.

And I think a great many Muslims, leaders or otherwise, *are* denouncing violence in no uncertain terms. But I think Eri's quite right, it's a sickness of the human animal that causes things like suicide bombings and invasions, and it's perhaps very difficult to reason the sickness away. We need to lay it bare for what it is, find the causes and address those issues.
