Then he proceeded to knock off and rewrite the old testament with the voices in his head's tutelage and approval.

In some ways Mohammed is much like "Father" Abraham who brought back and renamed the Babylonian God Jahweh to empower himself. Religions had no copyright protection and if you traveled to a new area you could become the new "Prophet".

Allah

The triple threat of imaginary bloodthirsty, gods - yet all one in the same Babylonian God rewritten by power seekers using different names.

The Christians worship a Babylonian god.
The Muslims worship a Babylonian god.

Naturally the folks who first heard his rip off knew it for what it was and violently expelled him. But cuircumstance and fate conspired to empower Mohammed and stifle creativity and scientific though in the region for the next millennia.

Who says Babylonia is gone and buried! It's religion is still practiced in one form or another by billions of uninformed, indoctrinated people.

Some semi-creative poor have loved to found religions to gather wealth and power, but unfortunately aren't quite creative or literate enough to erase the obvious traces of the religion they ripped off.
