It's amazing how many leftists embrace and defend Islam since Bush became pro-active in the Middle East.

The tenets of Islam tend to dissuade scientific thought. One religion with a stranglehold tends to stifle lots of things. Diversity in religion and polytheism is a boon to creativity and tolerance.

The Hanifs working with Mohammed effectively riled up the poor and the slave class and tried to convert Mecca. But Mohammed's seizures and revelations did not impress them. Once Mohammed was mocked (much like Bowser here;-) his rants became more polemic and his anti-polytheism took a new hostile tone with endless threats etcetera (see also Moses and the Egyptians;-).

Take an illiterate with a medical condition (epilepsy brought on by repeated heat strokes) that give him repeated seizures, and place him with a group of literate power seekers and a wife that would do justice to Hillary Clinton and you have the birth of Islam. His slave class followers would induce seizures of their own just to get in touch with god.

A brilliant start to a brilliant religion.

You're free to think Islam has brought great prosperity and innovation to the Middle East -and Bowser is free to think America is now like Nazi Germany.
