Availability not Specification

Doug Ellison — 1/17/2006 6:16:21 PM (archived)

Speed, capacity, any 'specification' is totally unimportant.

Consider Betamax - technically, a superior format to VHS, but VHS won....why?

Because there were more decks and tapes in shops. Whichever gets the sensible price bracket hardware into stores first at the >£200 ( >$300 ) bracket will win. It's that simple.
