..someone familiar with technology that broadcasts/transmits data on various wavelengths and frequencies.

Just wait till folks' synaptic impulses are capable of being measured and exploited. Mind control, thought interference ('pirate' thinking ;-) and a nightmarish world where folks are aware their thoughts are not free of external interference. These are the last golden decades of blissful ignorance.
Worrying about entertainment format technolgies will be quaint trip down memory lane. Symantic will rename themselves Synaptic and eventually market personal 'human' system security. Cell phone signal blocking technology will also have a huge new market.

Prospective Home Buyer: "So did this house come originally equipped with synaptic blockers by the builder?"
Real Estate Agent: "No, this was a retrofit job. The technology dates to 2055. The garage is unshielded and the inspectors found some leakage in the upstairs bedrooms. You could patch those up for 20 grand or so. If your homeowner's insurance policy requires it, we know a contracter who can get it up to code at bottom dollar prices.
Prospective Home Buyer #2: "Honey, I don't want to buy a home with such old protection. Think about the kids. You know Brandon is already struggling when he's outdoors. He needs a safe place to be able to come home to.
Real Estate Agent: "Well there's another home that was just listed last week that has all new shielding put up by Thinx Security-a real marvel that covers the broadest spectrum of wavelengths and frequencies yet developed. It was 5 star rated by THOUGHT magazine in it's September issue. Of course we're talking about a whole new price bracket here...but if security is a big concern..."
Oh yeah...it's going to be glorious.
