The war was Germany's to win in 1940. Had Guderian not stopped, and secured the Channel ports, there would've been no miracle at Dunkirk. The entire BEF would've been wiped out and Britain would've been left with zero defense. They came very close to suing for peace even with the evacuations at Dunkirk taking place. Had it not occurred it's highly unlikely that, after such a smashing defeat, British public opinion would've allowed their government to continue hostilities while the Germans were holding several hundred thousand young British men as POWs.
Albert Kesselring wanted to begin immidiate preperations for Operation Sealion in late May, after the scale of the Allies defeat became apparent. Had that happened, Germany could've jumped the Channel in early July of 1940. Long before the Brits had any sort of coherent defenses put into place. He almost got his wish.

The missile technology was a non-factor.
