re: Afghanistan
There were marches around the world against war in Afghanistan, boasting hundreds of thousands of marchers. It made the papers on a regular basis. I wish I could pull up some old threads here.
Note that the war in Iraq had a pretty good approval rate at the beginning, too.
Go here and scroll down memory lane for a while. Note that most of these are links to newspaper articles, not just nutball screeds.
I guarantee you, if Iraq had never entered the picture, the same cast of characters out there would be saying mostly the same things about Afghanistan now. Mostly along the lines of being a "Bush failure," since that's what it's mostly about anyway.
