I didn't really need to bring the examples of people in the media and elsewhere leaping to Zarqawi's defense, belittling his importance after months of declaring he was beating us, or looking desperately for reasons why the military did something wrong here. They're out there, and easy enough to find.
Also, plenty of experts think that this will make a dent in the insurgency.
But then, as I pointed out below, the point of the thread was not to discuss whether the death of Zarqawi will or will not help the war succeed. It was an exploration into why some people want so terribly badly not to have it help the war succeed.
