We didn't lose...we withdrew.

Big difference. That's the real point we gave up and we gave up because of the Henry Luce media machine that was dying and needed to spur sales anyway they could.

Time/Life was losing to TV. CBS, NBC and ABC all had Vietnam coverage and no one bought the news rags anymore. Life's circulation was down. It used to be that 1 in 5 Americans or almost every household in America above the poverty line subscribed or purchased a Time or Life magazine each week.

TV changed the demographics and between 1958 -1967 the drop off was fast and drastic. The decision was made to turn Time/Life into a antiwar propaganda machine to "capture" the youth market who only watched TV, and would rather be doing goofballs and bennies rather than read a magazine.

This was the worst editorial decision ever made.

It alienated the people who actually do read, it gave the Time/Life publications a leftist, anti-American stance that it will NEVER recover from and ended up killing Life Magazine entirely.

The leftists destroyed Time/Life powered by the greed of their leftist publisher who also accepted money from Joe Kennedy to prominently feature his son on the cover of Time and Life magazines during the late fifties and act as a media whore for the Kennedy clan.

CBS, Walter Cronkite, Rather and a bunch of hot air bags in love with the sound of their own voices thought they could mold America to their image by brainwashing the youth of America. Motivational Research (M.R.) was already being paid for with millions of dollars by the media to see how they could best exploit children's, teens and young adults insecurities. Legendary exploitation firms like Dr. Dichter & his Motivational Research, Inc. started up back in 1946. Pierre Martineau "Research Director" of the Chicago Tribune back in the 50s would make editorial suggestions based solely on the weaknesses of the buying public and how best to exploit them. His mentor Dr. burleigh Gardner of "Social Research, Inc. set the media pattern of direct, no-hold-barred targeted human exploitation.

After this, no one with any brains trusts the media's antiwar, anti-American stances any more than they trust the Tobacco industry and Time/Life effectively brought down much of the media with it. Now CBS is discredited, life long liberal exploiters like Rather with their non-stop lies and leftist agenda brought the house down on them just as Luce did on the Time/Life empire starting in the late 50s After Luce's death in 1967, the left just ran away out of control and Life soon became a monthly and then folded entirely by the close of 1972.

Leftists can't help themselves. Their righteousness is only compounded by their out-of-touch-ness with the mainstream. That they embraced human exploitation as eagerly as did the Tobacco, Beer and Gambling industries speaks volumes about there true goals and desires.

The educational arena is about brainwashing and control. So long as the kids know who Martin Luther King is, it doesn't matter if they can read. If they know that cars and factories create global warming, it doesn't matter if they can multiply into two digits. "Those who can't do - teach" needs to be updated to "Those who can't compete in current society - exploit the young in the quest of shaping future society to their liking."

The anti-Iraq effort and anti-conservative agenda of the media and the educational arena is just another symptom of exploiting the young and ignorant and a symptom of our failed schools - just as the anti-Vietnam effort was such a belweather back in the late sixties.
