Gosh, could we be talking about Scott? I'd say "that's just his way" not to trivialize him, but to acknowledge that he represents a significant section of the Right in his anger and the way he's thoroughly driven by his gut.

But hey, the Left here has Bowser, and in the same vein as I've said that I respect Bowser's passion and sincerity, I have to say the same thing about Scott. He's not posturing, he's being honest with us about how he feels.

It gave Tom an opportunity to suggest that he crank it down a notch. Sometimes I think that the different groups on the Right don't talk to each other any more than the Right and Left talk. Scott off the leash may be as much a revelation to the Right as to the Left.

I don't think acrimony in a debate is necessarily a bad thing, if it's a genuine reflection of what people are thinking and feeling. If we banish the passion to Flame, then here on CE we'll perpetually discuss only a subset of reality. In politics you have to deal with the emotions as well as the ideas; in real life you can't banish emotion to some national Flame board. Scott has a vote too, and he and the millions who feel the same way have to be factored into the equations.

I got a suggestion recently to shut down the Flame board. Maybe there's something to it?
