We'll see what comes out in the investigation.
If, as has been alleged, these abuses were reported some time ago, the individuals affected were known then. It would be a simple thing to call them now and ask them if they wanted to supply their information.
If, as seems increasingly likely, the Republican leadership knew about this for quite a while, their callousness in letting the situation continue and their political stupidity and cowardice in not cleaning it up immediately cause their current problems. They could have chosen to disclose and correct before this, and didn't. I shed no tears for them.
Concern for the victims includes timely apology and such remedy as will do them the most good. Concealment allows for neither.
