The blogger is responsible for outing a possible victim. The kid deserves more respect than this. If an investigation reveals that the page instigated the correspondence, that would be different. But so far, he was just a kid who was hit on by a powerful man while employed by the organization of which the man was a ranking member.

I understand, from the blog to which you have directed me, that people have dug up some information on the blogger's kid, and are publishing it. He is understandably upset, because it's wrong to invade the privacy of an innocent person, whether that person is a minor or not. The blogger says that bringing his kid into this is wrong because his kid is a minor. He's correct on the main part of his statement, but only partially correct on the reason why.

I wonder if the blogger will be able to make the leap of imagination from his own outrage over his family's unwilling involvement to sympathize with the pain and anxiety his "detective work" has caused the page and his family. If he can't, this man may have a lucrative career as a gossip columnist.
