New Ice age?

Please forgive me for breaking my promise not to comment, but this is an important point I need to make.

I think warnings of global droughts, ice-ages and mass sea level rises are exaggerated, possible but not probable events, and these developments may take lifetimes to manifest themselves even if they do occur. Much more likely are more subtle changes with drastic consequences, in the short term, such as a 20% drop in precipitation over our agricultural heartland, or the climate of southern France becoming like that of Maine. After all, they are at about the same latitude.

I'm betting my own property, 8 miles from the Atlantic and 7 feet above sea level, will probably be habitable long after I'm gone. But my hurricane insurance ($3000/yr today!) will be a bit higher.
