Interesting - I think the originators of "The Day After Tomorrow" must have read that article... the timing was about right.

I think that oscillations in climate might go into a positive feedback mode, with sudden and drastic changes.... probably not leading to human exctinction but almost certainly to vast changes in civilization.

Hopefully negative feedback will come into play in time to avoid the most severe effects, but I wouldn't bet on it. I think we are in for a rough ride.
