I don’t think we were the number one hit on Saddam’s list. I would put us at third. If Saddam had nuclear weapons and was going to use them, I think Iran would have been first, followed closely by Israel.
And if Saddam could have smuggled a nuclear bombs into the US and blown up our cities, I think he would have, but I do not think he would want us to know he did it.
The first Gulf War destroyed his nuclear weapon facilities and he kept what he could on the back burner, but he was years away from making a bomb IMO- but that comes with what we know now. I have no doubt, given the opportunity, he would have started up his nuclear weapons programs in full force, given the chance.
For me, WMD and terrorist ties were not the main reasons I followed Bush into this. It was when he talked about spreading freedom and democracy across the Middle East. It was when he said the only way to win the war against terrorists is to destroy the environment that breeds them. A suicide bomber has nothing they value. Give them something to value- give them freedom.
And it can still happen. This is not over yet. And I do believe most Iraqis want freedom, democracy and peace.
As for me, it has always been about freeing the Iraqis from that murderer and his two murdering, rapists, child molesting sons. Before we ever ousted him, I was preaching that. And surprisingly that comes from my Liberal Human Rights side.
You see, I want a world that is a peace and can work together to explore and settle space. I want a world where all humans can enjoy life and not live in fear. I want a world where dictators and tyrants are a thing of the past.
