I think that's where some of my outlook comes from.

In many circles I'm considered a racist. It's not really a term that I find offensive. I put the well being of my genetic heritage above most other considerations. I don't really believe in an afterlife, so I look elsewhere for a continuity of being. I find that continuity in the group that I belong to. I find it comforting to know that when I'm gone, there will still be people who look like me and who share the same cultural beliefs and customs that I do. I am but a link in a great chain that stetches back into the mists of time, and that will hopefully continue far into the distant future.

This sentiment has been expressed by many others from various cultures throughout the ages.

Where there is no vision (sense of purpose) the people perish. -- Proverbs 29:18.

My lands are where my dead lie buried. -- Crazy Horse

Lo there, do I see my father - Lo there do I see my Mother and my Brothers and my Sisters - Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning - Lo they do call to me - They bid me to take my place among them - In the hallowed hall of Valhalla - Where the brave shall live forever. -- Viking Liturgy
