Synchronicity time: The 'Are You a Texan' test!

First time I've seen it -- arrived in my email today from a West Texas native whose home I just moved from:

Ya KNOW Yur ah Texin IF:

1. You can properly pronounce Corsicana, Palestine, Decatur, Wichita Falls, San Antonio, Burnet, Boerne, Nacogdoches, Mexia, Waco, Amarillo, Sachse, and Waxahachie.

2. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel.

3. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

4. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but by the availability of shade.

5. Stores don't have bags, they have sacks.

6. You measure distance in minutes.

7. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean.

8. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit.

9. You know cow-pies are not made of beef.

10. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding date.

11. You aren't surprised to find movie rental, ammunition, and bait all in the same store.

12. You know everything goes better with Ranch dressin'

13. Your "place at the lake" has wheels under it.

14. You actually understand this and you are "fixin' to" send it to your friends.

15. Finally, you are 100% Texan if you have ever heard this conversation:" You wanna coke?" "Yeah."- "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper!"

Notes:

1. Kor-si-CAN-a; PAL-es-teen; like the town in Illinois; WIT-chi-taw; "San Ant-TONE", but only if you're going for the parody accent; Bur-NET; "Burn"; nag-o-DO-ches; mex-EE-a; (everyone knows Waco, thanks to David Koresh); rhymes with "armadillo"; "Sax"; woks-a-HAT-chee.

2. A warning box on the NWS radar is my signal to go outside and look for wall clouds.

5. This is also true in the KC, MO area.

7., 13. Typical for North Texans; South Texans have the Gulf. Been there -- I like it a lot better than the Jersey Shore.

12. On the side, please.

15. The first time I tasted Dr. Pepper was on a trip to Corpus (hardly anyone who lives there uses the second word in its name) as a young boy. It was strictly a Southern drink that long ago... wasn't until I moved here that I learned it had started here.
