C'mon, Fox. Question 1:
cor-si-CAN-a; PAL-is-tine; duh-CAY-tur; WITCH-i-tah; with short a's; BURN-it; BURN-ee; nack-oh-DOH-chez; muh-HAY-uh (or muh-HAIR); a-muh-RIL-uh; SACK-see; wok-suh-HATCH-ee.
For extra credit, add Lamesa & Pecos.
Question 15: I never heard native Texans ask if someone wanted a coke. It was always soda pop, unless you were with country folks, for whom it was "sodey pop." If you said "coke," you meant Coca-cola. And I started school before I knew the full name of that beverage wasn't pronounced Co-cola. But if you wanted a sodey, you might have Dr. Pepper, or a Nehi (orange or peach), or a Grapette, or a 7-Up. Some of those brands are long gone, but they were all staples of a West Texas childhood in the Fifties.
