Plaque in the arteries, blocked arteries, ruptured plaque (instant heart attack). Cholesterol can also deposit the nasty stuff in the eyes, can lead to sudden hearing loss. Those are rare, I think, but they happen. We had patient who woke up totally deaf one morning (in a distant State) and learned about Lipoprotein apheresis that it could maybe reverse it. It has to be caught fast, though. Patient flew in and got to the clinic on the cusp of almost too late. Patient regained partial hearing.
Cholesterol can make fatty deposits under the skin. Lumps. Lots of things other than just heart attacks. The heart attack is end-stage cholesterol effect. Can cause vein blockage in legs.
Where there's a blood vessel, I think cholesterol can do its damage. Off and on pain the legs could be the leg veins effected. Muscle pain should be reported to your doctor if you're on statins. You don't want to mess around with liver problems. I try to take milk thistle for a week or so every few months. It helps cleanse the liver. I'd recommend anyone on statins take some periodically.
