Let's consider the RightWing claim that America suffers under a crushing tax burden. Here's a comparison from Forbes of global tax rates. Their comparison takes "a global view of the top marginal rates of taxation--the ones that typically most affect a successful entrepreneur", that is, the very taxes that RightWingers insist are most unfair to the wealthy elite.
(Having trouble finding America near the top of the list? Try the middle, with the rate shown for New York; or 3/4 of the way down for the tax rate in Texas.) The abrupt cliff at the very bottom is interesting: After Hong Kong at 43.5, there's the UAE at 18. No wonder Cheney and Halliburton are fleeing to the Middle East.
It's all about perspective.
