Hitting the 'reset' button. SCIENCE talk, please!

Okay, it looks like the tags were correct this time around. Sorry for the inconvenience to any mod(s).

That said, I'd also like to request that this branch of the thread be confined to SCIENCE talk. IE, leave personal attacks, sarcasm/ridicule and other unsavoury stuff out of the equation; it's not scientific and does not improve the debate in any way.

I might also lightly request that the level of discussion be kept to a level that a layman can understand. IE, getting into abstract maths might be a bit much for "normal" readers, unless there's an equivalent "real-world" simple explanation of the meaning... Just something to keep in mind. Some of us are better mathematically. Others are better with concepts or verbal descriptions of the same thing (concrete descriptions as opposed to abstract formulaic/mathematical descriptions). Different learning styles, etc.
