Jody, its not 'pseudoskepticism'.... Its about knowing what one is talking about...

...and knowing enough to spot bullshit.

Maybe they'll finally figure out that their models are incomplete because these aren't "static magnetic" structures, they're electric structures. Magnetic fields do not exist in the absence of electric currents!

Refusing to 'deal' electrically, seems to be the biggest issue holding them back... They're dealing with a byproduct rather than the thing itself.

This statement is just plain nonsense, it demonstrates that gmirkin does not grasp the topic on an even fundamental level... He seems oblivious to the entire field of Magnetohydrodynamics.

But there is more to go on here- his past history of posting pseudoscience here...

such as arguing that craters and other surface features on Mars are due to mysterious inexplicable electrical arcing:

IE, the current theory as I understand it is that dating is done based on a model of how long it would take Mars to accumulate all of its so-called "impact" craters, and how long it would take for water or wind erosion to carve the channels and gules we see. If one takes the age of mars from that perspective, it's been around for billions and billions of years.

However, if one accepts Mars as a charged body at some point in its history, then much of the cratering, and gouging of channels could have been created over a MUCH shorter time frame. Electrical arcs, especially catastrophic ones, can occur in seconds, or several over the course of minutes. If electrical arcing is the cause and not this vague unfounded "impact cratering" and wind/water erosion system currently in place. Mars may be a lot younger than we think, and the timeframe over which it's been scarred may be a lot SHORTER than we think.

We tried the 'polite' path with him (http://www.habitablezone.com/SPACE/messages/437823.html) and it did not work. He is wrong, demonstrably ignorant on the subject, and refuses to learn... I see no reason to treat him or his delusions with respect when he is back yet again posting garbage here that has been thouroughly debunked.

He is another Johannes with a larger vocabulary.

He needs to take the 'polite' advice given to him TWO YEARS ago by ER:

If you really want to follow up on this, find a good first year college physics text (one that uses a non-calculus approach), read it and work the problems. Once you really understand what F = ma really means, you'll be amazed at just how simple and elegant the world is.

Until he actually takes the time to educate himself, discussion is pointless. As long as he floods us with garbage, I will point out that it is garbage.
