Today, I learned a great lesson. Sometimes you MUST let someone fall on their face so that they begin to save themselves.
No matter how much one wants to help, sometimes the best and ONLY help that really works is for the person to confront their problems with no one there to support them.
Inertia.
Some folks need to have their back right up against the wall with absolutely no lifeline to others and only their own ingenuity and effort to get out.
Helping folks repeatedly can cripple them and can end up killing them.
Today, individual freedom took on an entirely new meaning for me - it meant not just freedom to do what one wants to do, but rather a sacrosanct freedom from others doing things for you.
I have now come face-to-face with the dark side of "helping" others, I never quite could see before.
It's forced me to re-evaluate the entire concept of what "helping" really means.

Individual responsibility & true freedom.
