I don't want to argue about it, because overall I think very highly of BSG. It's clear that the controversy over the finale is going to continue for a long time, and obviously only people who cared about the show cared about how it ended.
I found the fan blog's simpering willingness to rationalize the finale a little nauseating, to tell the truth. I guess I'm a "fan" but not a "Fan!". He admitted that his belief in God probably made him more tolerant of a deus ex machina ending, and his snide comments about purists insisting on logic in their stories branded him as not a science fiction fan; I'm the opposite mix, thus my reaction.
At the end of the day, it wasn't science fiction, it was a religious epic that took place aboard starships.
