I also have to wonder how many of the Colonial humans survived being
bitten by mosquitos with malaria and all those other "fun" diseases they
presumably had no immunities against, not being natives of Africa or
Earth?

Or did they at least have enough sense to take their medical supplies
and textbooks with them?
