Tell me how that happens. What takes its place? Are the citizens going to suddenly open their hearts and their wallets on their own to deal with the huge costs of caring for our increasingly elderly population? Are the private medical insurance companies, who will have to absorb all those people on Medicare, going to remove their restrictions on pre-existing conditions and stop charging higher and higher fees as people age because of the risk they'll invoke? Will they put social responsibility and sense of community over the exorbitant profits that they can garner?
The needs don't go away just because the US government stops paying for it all.
We really appreciate you pointing this out to us once or twice a month. My gosh Tom, we'd absolutely forget if you weren't there to keep harping on this. We owe you such a debt of gratitude.
